So Many Great Things Come from Wilson - a meditation in film decay

This was an effectively non-salvageable reel of film from an archival media restoration. Originally shot in 1955, the present decay is likely the result of a combination of a botched first development, and decades of storage in environmentally adverse conditions. But with a complementary piece of music I find it to be a comfortably meditative viewing experience with a peek into the past. Enjoy.

This is from an old 8m reel from 1955 that I recently spent a bit of time working to restore. The reel was moderately decayed and upon a brief initial inspection appeared to be largely devoid of salvageable content. White quite a bit of careful cleaning and patience, it turned out pretty nicely. Enjoy.

My daughter and I regularly visit nearby Riverfront Park. Lately she's started taking her DSLR to exercise her eye for nature photography. These shots however are taken using iPhone 8, with the ZY Play app., and edited very simply with iMovie for iOS, while testing recent updates to these apps, and the functionality of the Zhiyun Smooth 4 Gimbal Stabilizer.

This is a short video tour of the Japanese Tea Garden in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. Shot on an iPhone using a Zhiyun Smooth 4 gimbal during one of San Francisco's rare warm sunny days under clear blue skies. My daughter and I visit this tea garden several times a year because we find it very enchanted and captivating, and the stories behind many of the features are deeply moving.
Bert Goes For A Ride

My friend Bert, (just shy of his 94th Birthday) was recently honored as a special guest for a community event recognizing veterans who served in World War II and the Korean War. At the conclusion of the event, Bert was gifted a surprise ride aboard a beautifully restored 1939 DC-3 Airplane that took him on a tour over the Sonoma Valley and the Pacific beaches of the Sonoma coastline.

Wow. Glad I found this. My father took me to see the Globetrotters in 1958 at China Lake California. I was 10 years old. It was a fairly small gym so everything was close and personal. This brings back memories. Good memories.

The Miles Brothers had no way of knowing there would be an earthquake in a few days, it was pure chance that they happened to film so soon before that event, and thanks to that we got some amazing comparative footage.
This was back in the day Harlem Globetrotters when they really knew how to dazzle the basketball. Today's Harlem Globetrotters are barely watchable.

After WWII, the rules and tactics (and the ball) changed and Basketball left the archaic era and became more or less what it is today. In this 1939 video we can still see funny ball launching, and dribbling.
